About

"Humanity has enjoyed 100 years of advancement in science, technology and human achievements while exploiting nature’s resources and creating vast inequality. It is my hope that future generations will find ways to live in harmony with nature and still thrive and benefit from our past accomplishment

Dan Whittet has worked in the Energy and Sustainability field for decades and is currently a senior associate with AHA Consulting Engineers, where he manages LEED and WELL projects He is a board member of the Architects, Designers and Planners for Social Responsibility (ADPSR) and a long-time contributor to the ASHRAE 189.1 high performance building standard. His current interests include an exploration of disenfranchised communities and how they can become thriving sustainable places to live. This includes being on the Berlin, NH planning board and Androscoggin Valley Energy Committee where he helped develop the new Master Plan. If asked he will sharpen hand tools, fly a plane, navigate in fog, cook a tasty meal, and write a poem about all of it.

Testimonials

Jeff Frank, Director of Preconstruction McCown Gordon

Dan Whittet was a pleasure to work with. His experience and sense of enthusiasm for the green building industry and building science is balanced with a real world understanding of what it takes to make real projects happen, and keep a team focused on quality and continuous improvement. In the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry it is always a challenge to bridge the gap from Architecture and Design to actual completed work but Dan really gets that. He believes everyone’s role matters and empowers team members by making them aware of the importance of the work they do and how LEED and sustainability are just a part of doing quality work that will make a difference. This combination of idealistic vision and pragmatic understanding of the hard work involved in building a better world inspire project members, not least of all because he keeps his sense of humor and expects others to as well.

Dan is an absolute pleasure to work with and an extremely talented and thoughtful construction professional. Dan has a built-in intellectual curiosity about the built environment and the design & construction process that positively influences his team members and work product. When I asked for his assistance in solving problems, he invariably came back with answers that not only answered the original question but added valuable perspective and critical thinking.

I highly recommend Dan for a wide range of responsibilities related to the design & construction of buildings, given his demonstrated technical knowledge and ability to improve team dynamics. Dan understands how to integrate environmentally sustainable criteria into projects in a practical and credible manner.
