Rob Hosken grew up in Wisconsin, in a passive solar home that cost nothing to heat on sunny winter days. While growing up, Rob studied music, physics, and writing. In undergrad, Rob studied physics, acoustics, concert sound, art, and art history. In architecture school, Rob received a green building scholarship from Senator Gaylord Nelson, founder of Earth Day. Rob still learns continually, while promoting a new green paradigm via his professional and personal activities.
As Principal of Building Performance Architecture, Rob has helped deliver the first Passive House certified library in the U.S., the only ENERGY STAR Multifamily High Rise certified apartment building in Western Pennsylvania, the LEED-Gold targeted Pittsburgh International Airport Landside Terminal, and many other high-performance buildings. Rob collaborates with building teams to greatly increase building energy efficiency and quality through expert, hands-on QA/QC.

In 2006, I met Rob at the first ENERGY STAR certified home in Pennsylvania, and found out he was the President of the West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund. I was impressed with that, of course, but then I found out he also does real work. Starting in 2009, we started doing projects together.
