About
This new gateway pavilion at the city park’s New Street entrance will provide much-needed year-round high school athletic facilities, filling a gap in what was available for girls’ teams, as well as youth sports. Built around existing, much-loved trees, the pavilion includes all-gender locker rooms, coach and trainer’s offices, meeting space, multi-purpose community space, equipment storage and a deeply shaded plaza.
The Danehy Gateway Pavilion is targeting LEED Gold and Passive House certification through PHIUS, and is also designed to meet the city of Cambridge’s climate action goals, designed to be net zero ready. It is the first passive house project for the city of Cambridge and one of the most aggressively sustainable city-funded projects.
